Preface Huawei Band 4 Pro
The Huawei Band 4 Pro comes from a long line of Huawei fitness trackers; we tested the Band 2 Pro in 2017. We’re curious to see what Huawei has done in the last year. The HUAWEI Band 4 Pro price is just 70 Euros ($77). It features an integrated GPS module that allows you to record tracks without your smartphone, a heart rate sensor, and an infrared sensor which monitors body temperature and calculates the user’s calorie intake. The Band 4 Pro can also be used to make payments using NFC. This is available in some countries with Apple Pay and Google Pay. This feature is not available in Central Europe. There are also cheaper versions of the Band 4 Pro available in the Band 4e and Band 4e. The Band 4e is specifically made for basketball players. However, the Band 4e is a simpler version without NFC or active GPS. It has a lower display resolution and the old TFT technology makes it difficult to see better.
It houses the Band 4 Pro screen in a metal frame that looks great thanks to its brushed finish. The color options for the frame include black or rose gold, and the band in black, red, or pink, depending on which variant you choose. Huawei describes the body as “metallic plastic”. The latest version of Huawei fitness tracker, although slightly heavier than the Band 2 Pro is very comfortable to wear.
Band 4 Pro Water Resistance
Huawei claims that the case is five ATM water resistant, which means users can use the fitness tracker while washing their hands. Huawei claims users can swim with their fitness tracker. However, internet sources indicate that 5 ATM water resistance is not sufficient. Huawei advertises this on their official website, but buyers shouldn’t be concerned about water damage. The silicone rubber wristband is approximately 16.5mm (0.65in) in width. The two straps measure just over 21 cm (8.27 inches) in length and can be adjusted with numerous holes.
Operating System for Fitness Tracker
The touch screen can be used to navigate the wearable, as well as a button that is recessed and touch-sensitive. This takes the user back to their home screen. This solution works well, even though a more efficient gesture would have been better. We found that the button was not sensitive enough. We often had to touch the button multiple times to get to the home screen. The touch screen works well enough, but there are other touchscreens that work even better.
Huawei developed an operating system specifically for the fitness tracker. It can be connected with either an iOS or Android phone using the Huawei Health app. It is not clear if Huawei mobile services on Android run in the background. They also require a lot system permissions. It is impossible to use the fitness tracker and Huawei ID without them. This is a problem for other smartphone manufacturers but the services are already preinstalled on Huawei phones.
